Presentation of the graphic image of Aveiro Portuguese Capital of Culture 2024
On October 20th, Aveiro City Council (CMA) publicly launched the graphic image of “Aveiro Capital Portuguesa da Cultura 2024”, thus marking the start of an initiative that will reinforce Aveiro’s positioning as a city that values art and culture, under the motto “The year as a stage. An infinite scenario.”
Aveiro 2024 integrates multiple traditions and as a technology hub and university center, it is a cradle of futures. With immense transformative energy, produced with the commitment of public and private institutions, the population and cultural agents, this will be a challenge marked in time but of infinite dimension: it has its starting point before the beginning and its influence will not have deadline to finish.
The image points to a conversion of lines that represent the cultural diversity of Portugal, of Aveiro City, Municipality and Region, which come together at the same point, in a loop that references the infinity symbol. The design also refers to the shape of moliceiro boats, traditional vessels from the Ria de Aveiro, as well as the sea waves and the movement of the winds, in a clear allusion to the territory of Aveiro, which will be the first Portuguese Capital of Culture.
The first quarter program and the highlights of “Aveiro Capital Portuguesa da Cultura 2024” will be presented soon.
