Aveiro is part of the ITI Urban Networks of Cities of Culture candidacy

The Municipal Executive decided to approve, within the framework of an application for the Community Funds of Portugal 2030 of the “ITI Redes Urbanas” program, the Partnership Protocol of the Network of Cities of Culture, which in addition to Aveiro, has the participation of Braga, Évora (which he leads) and Faro, and which appears as one of the results of the natural evolution of the work carried out by these Cities over the last few years, within the scope of their respective candidacies for European Capital of Culture 2027 and the cultural development strategy that one of the four Municipal Councils are in operation.

This network also includes Turismo do Alentejo and Theatro Circo, Braga.

The investment from the Portugal 2030 Community Funds will be channeled towards activities already foreseen in the cultural strategies of each of the cities, including the programs of the Portuguese Capital of Culture, European Capital of Culture initiatives and other actions to be carried out in the years 2024, 2025 and 2026 .

In addition to these activities, the action plan of this Network of Cities of Culture includes the development of a legacy project for future Portuguese Capitals of Culture, which aims to propose a set of good practices for implementing cultural strategies in cities, considering the impact of titles and shares of the European Capital of Culture and the Portuguese Capitals of Culture.
